Three weeks into the Premier League campaign, Liverpool have made significant progress in their title defence, securing the record-breaking £125 million (\$A268m) signing of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak just hours after edging past Arsenal 1-0 at Anfield.

”Alexander Isak to Liverpool, here we go! Deal agreed now for £130m transfer fee. Record move for Premier League, Romano reports.
”Isak, on his way today for medical tests as new Liverpool player after long term deal agreed months ago.
”It was always ONLY Liverpool for Isak.”
The protracted transfer saga concluded with Liverpool securing the services of the Swedish striker after he went on strike at Newcastle.
The deal crowns a remarkable period of investment by the champions in this transfer window, with manager Arne Slot having already brought in Florian Wirtz for £116 million and Hugo Ekitike for £95 million to bolster his formidable attacking options.
Ekitike had been identified by Newcastle as Isak’s successor, yet Slot now finds himself with both forwards at his disposal.
Isak is scheduled to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-year contract with the club.
Liverpool had initially seen a £110 million bid rejected earlier in the month, but Isak’s refusal to feature for Newcastle ultimately proved decisive.
